Coyote Off-Pavement and On

A few days ago I took my upright on a ride that included lots of unpaved sections which are enjoyable with fat tires. You can see that some of the hills on the East side have already gone brown. We’re expecting more rain over this weekend but it may be too late and the hills that are still green may soon follow. Still, this was a fun ride, you have these unpaved parts largely to yourself except the occasional horse and rider.

Another unpaved route on the way home in this preserved space next to the neighborhood on the right

Then last Tuesday I went on a ride on my recumbent with my group that started to the Southeast of Morgan Hill and then headed up the paved part of the Coyote Creek Trail.

Some Shade was welcome after the exposed section

Yesterday I just did a local half-hour ride because I spent a lot of time marking the route of the upcoming Tierra Bella bike ride my club puts on. This is quite an undertaking as there are several routes (30 mile, 50 mile, 100K, 100 mile). I was in one of four groups of three, and it took all of us several hours to mark the turns on all the routes. This is with sticky colored arrows made of a biodegradable material that will wear off so it is not necessary to go remove them. The route marking ended up being a lot of walking for exercise because in some of the remote locations you can’t park near the corner you’re trying to mark so have to hoof it in. We’re hoping the rain will not be heavy on Sunday while the ride is on.
